I like making something out of nothing. I like 'wowing' a photograph in to an artistic memory.

I have been invited to scrapbooking events in the past and have tried my hand at paper scrapbooking. These events were fun when it came to meeting new friends and socializing, but I spent so much time talking, I never got anything done.

When I moved to Ohio from California, I decided I would go to a few events in Ohio in order to socialize a little.

My interest in scrapbooking and archiving "did a 180" when I found out there was such a thing as "digital scrapbooking" and that I could use the last 26 years of my graphic training to create "out of the box" pages and designs.

I am very passionate about graphics and putting my all in to my work. I have a very wide range of techniques do to the fact that I enjoy so many different artistic styles. My favorite style is a soft grunge, or modern organic.

I love to manipulate photos and blend layers and textures to create unique ideas that relate to the feelings behind the photo. I also like helping others to create artwork from their favorite photos.

Our son is my favorite subject as you will see, but I love to develop for others and challenge myself with different styles, colors and themes.

Favorite application: Adobe Photoshop

Equipment: Apple MacBook Pro

quote katherine

I started "paper" scrapbooking before I got married, investing in stamps, cutting tools and tons of paper and stickers. I loved the social aspect of going to crops and meeting women who enjoyed creating these heirlooms for our children and grandchildren.  Even my husband loved seeing what I did at these "crops".

I decided to go digital after upgrading my Nikon 35mm (which I loved) to a digital Nikon D50 (which I loved more)!  It just didn't make sense to me to spend so much money on paper embellishments and developing photos when I can create beautiful layouts with amazing effects using Adobe Photoshop.  It took a while to learn how to use Photoshop but now that I have, I'm hooked!

I have been in the IT profession for years, so learning and using Photoshop is a natural way to extend my love of learning and teaching software as well as my desire to preserve our family's memories.
